| Each year in December Victoria,
BC celebrates its rich heritage and cultural traditions. John Adams and his team of
experienced guides play an important role by offering
fascinating and entertaining walking tours through Old
Town and Chinatown. The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas
in Old Victoria and Chinatown Walks have become seasonal
favourites in Victoria. Victoria Carriage Tours and Christmas tours by the Old Cemeteries Society are also offered every year in December. Check out the details and schedules

Ghosts of
Christmas Past Walking Tour
|

A 90-minute variation on
the popular Ghostly Walks, specifically designed to focus
on ghost stories and the supernatural at Christmas in
Victoria. The legend of Christmas Hill, the ghosts of
Helmcken Alley, Adelaide Griffin (Victoria's first documented
ghost sighting at Christmas 1861) and the Christmas Eve
assassination on the steps of the Roman Catholic cathedral
in 1890 are included.
The Ghosts of Christmas Past tours start at the Visitor Info Centre.
No reservations are needed. Purchase tiuckets from the guide before the tour. Adults $12; students/seniors $10.
December 2007 schedule:
Saturdays (December 1, 8, 15, 22) at 7:30 pm.
Plus December 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 at 7:30 pm. |

Christmas
in Old Victoria Walking Tour

A 90-minute walk through
Old Town, the historic heart of Victoria, where Christmas
traditions and colourful stories abound. The tour is based
on true accounts of how Christmas was celebrated during
the days of Fort Victoria and the gold-rush era. Many
indoor locations are included, with places to sit down.

Chinatown
Walks, December 2007

A 90-minute walk in Canada's oldest Chinatown. Christmas lights and festive shop windows add
even more to see in this area steeped in history. Learn
why the Chinese came, where they came from and what customs
they brought. Check out the best places for Christmas
shopping in Market Square, Fan Tan Alley and on Fisgard
Street, Chinatown's main street.
Chinatown Walks begin at the "Bright Pearl" sculpture, corner of Government and Fisgard streets, across the street from the Gate of Harmonious Interest.

Old Cemeteries Society Christmas Tours |

John Adams will conduct his annual Christmas tours for the Old Cemeteries Society on two consecutive Sundays.The stories told are tales of Christmas that happened in the 1800s to the people buried in the cemeteries.
Sunday, December 2 at 2:00 pm. Pioneer Square. Meet at the corner of Quadra Street and Rockland Avenue (beside Christ Church Cathedral).
Sunday December 9 at 2:00. Ross Bay Cemetery. Meet at the Fairfield Plaza (outside Starbuck's Coffee).
