| Each year in December Victoria,
BC celebrates its rich heritage and cultural traditions. John Adams and his team of
experienced guides play an important role by offering
fascinating and entertaining walking tours through Old
Town and Chinatown. The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas
in Old Victoria and Chinatown Walks have become seasonal
favourites in Victoria. Christmas tours by the Old Cemeteries Society are also offered every year in December. Check out the details and schedules

Ghosts of
Christmas Past Walking Tour 2012

A 90-minute variation on
the popular Ghostly Walks, specifically designed to focus
on ghost stories and the supernatural at Christmas in
Victoria. The legend of Christmas Hill, the ghosts of
Helmcken Alley, Adelaide Griffin (Victoria's first documented
ghost sighting at Christmas 1861) and the Christmas Eve
assassination on the steps of the Roman Catholic cathedral
in 1890 are included.
The Ghosts of Christmas Past tours start at the Visitor Info Centre.
No reservations are needed. Purchase tickets from the guide before the tour. Adults $14; students/seniors $12.
The Ghosts of Christmas Past tours are offered at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday nights, plus extra tours between Christmas and New Year in December 2012: Dec. 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31. (Note: no tours on Dec. 23, 24, 25 and 26). |

Christmas
in Old Victoria

A 90-minute program in
Old Town, the historic heart of Victoria, where Christmas
traditions and colourful stories abound. The program starts inside a heritage building for background discussion and stories, based
on true accounts of how Christmas was celebrated during
the days of Fort Victoria and the gold-rush era. Weather permitting the program will continue outdoors to places close to Bastion Square.
Three scheduled programs: Wednesday, Dec. 5, Wednesday, Dec. 12 and Sunday, Dec. 16 at 2:00 pm. Meet in Bastion Square in front of the Maritime Museum of BC). No reservations are needed. Purchase tickets from the guide before the program. Adults $14; students/seniors $12.

Christmas in Old Victoria Illustrated Talks |

Find out about the fascinating ways Christmas was celebrated in Victoria, from the days of Fort Victoria to the present day. John Adams has preapred a lavishly illustrated and entertaining talk which is ideal for clubs, seniors centres, schools and other organizations who prefer an indoor activity. Length of presentations anout 45 minutes to one hour, but can be adjusted to suit specific requirements.

Chinatown
Walks, December 2012

A 90-minute walk in Canada's oldest Chinatown. Christmas lights and festive shop windows add
even more to see in this area steeped in history. Learn
why the Chinese came, where they came from and what customs
they brought. Check out the best places for Christmas
shopping in Market Square, Fan Tan Alley and on Fisgard
Street, Chinatown's main street.
Chinatown Walks begin at the "Bright Pearl" sculpture, corner of Government and Fisgard streets (in front of Starbucks Coffee), across the street from the Gate of Harmonious Interest.
Chinatown Walks every Saturday in December 2012 at 10:30 am.

Each year in December John Adams conducts his annual Christmas tours for the Old Cemeteries Society on the first two Sundays of the month .The stories told are tales of Christmas that happened in the 1800s to the people buried in the cemeteries.
In 2012 John Adams will be conducting two Christmas tours for the Old Cemeteries Society:
Sunday Dec. 2. Old Burying Ground Christmas Stories. Meet at 2:00 pm at corner of Quadra St. and Rockland Ave. No reservations needed. $5.
Sunday Dec. 9. Ross Bay Cemetery Christmas Stories. Meet at 2:00 pm in front of Oregano's, Fairfield Plaza. No reservations needed. $5.
